We knew it would be hard to top the success of last year’s Oyster Social, but our 2nd Annual Oyster Social did just that. What an event!

In fact, we even made the front page of The Star Democrat!

With 75 guests in attendance, the Tidewater Inn was host to a packed house. During the night, the attendees enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and beverages and had plenty of time to mingle with one another.

After the guests had a chance to socialize,Scott Eglseder (Eglseder Wealth Management Group, Inc, & Founder of The Oyster Reef Recovery Initiative) along with Chris Judy (Marylanders Grows Oysters (MGO)) guided an in-depth discussion on how the MGO and The Oyster Reef Recovery Initiative is working together to help heal the Bay.

By the end of the event, guests that had available docks to grow oysters were encouraged to sign up for the 2013-2014 growing season which starts back up in early fall. Additionally, the growers who participated in the 2012-2013 season were recognized for their dedication and support throughout the year.

Between now and next year’s meeting, we are expecting to dramatically increase the number of growers for both the MGO and The Oyster Reef Recovery Initiative. We couldn’t be happier with this year’s turnout, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year!
